Cape May Aviation Museum’s Popular “Runway 5K” Fundraiser adds 10K Distance

Cape May Airport, Lower Township, NJNaval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum (NASW), located at the Cape May Airport, will host the 5th annual “Runway 5K & 1 Mile Fun Walk” on Saturday June 10, 2017 at 9am.

The museum is excited to “double the fun” in 2017 with the addition of the 10K distance. Also new for this year, cash prizes for male and female overall winners for both the 5K and 10K.

With the cooperation of the Delaware River & Bay Authority (operators of the Cape May Airport), the airport will temporarily close to air traffic allowing runners and walkers this unique opportunity to compete on the runways! Early registration is highly recommended. Race day registration opens at 7am located at the entrance to the Aviation Museum. Air traffic and runways will be shut down between 8am-11am. No back packs will be permitted. Race amenities include: Craft Beer tastings (21+), indoor finish through Hangar #1, music, expanded award/age categories, high quality camouflage tech shirts (early bird registrants only, prior to May 26th) and precisely measured course. The museum will be open FREE to the public from 9-noon for this family and pet friendly event! Race and walk will be held rain or shine.

Cape May Airport was formerly Naval Air Station Wildwood, which served as a World War II dive-bomber training center. The museum is dedicated to the 42 airmen who perished while training at Naval Air Station Wildwood between 1943 and 1945. Open Daily 9-5.
