Cape May’s theater season gets under way with a bang!  Cape May Stage will present the world premiere of New Jersey playwright Shawn Fisher’s “How to Make a Rope Swing” at 8 p.m. on Friday, May 17 at the Robert Shackleton Playhouse on Bank and Lafayette streets. The play will mark the theater’s 25th anniversary season.

Directed by Emmy nominee Roy Steinberg, “How to Make a Rope Swing” is a story about long-buried secrets in a Jersey Shore town, and will feature guest performers Lynn Cohen and Barry Phillips along with Ben Rosenblatt. The play is the winner of the Edgerton Foundation New American Plays Award. Learn more here…


East Lynne Theatre Company starts off their season June 12  with the NJ Premiere of Lost on the Natchez Trace.  The year is 1825 and slave auctioneer Malcolm Jeters is headed home when he falls from his mule in Mississippi’s Natchez Trace during a violent storm. Injured and starving, he yells for help. The only one who appears is a runaway slave. The question is, who will save whom?  Performances at The First Presbyterian Church,500 Hughes Street.  Join the company, Wednesday, June 12 for an After-Show Opening Night Party at The Pier House Restaurant. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres, cash bar and the opportunity to mingle with actors and fellow theater lovers!
