Eva E. Glassworks

Eva E. Glassworks hand crafted glass jewelry for loved ones

Once you find something that truly moves you, it can enhance your personal life, encourage you to grow, and leave you wanting more. That’s what glass does for me. It’s my first love. It’s given me life and joy. And I know that comes through in my work.

My name is Eva Shelley and I’ve been working with glass since 2000. I started by taking private lessons at the Crefeld School, a private high school in Philadelphia. I then took individual glass classes at Salem Community College in New Jersey. From there, I attended Temple University’s Tyler School of Art, majoring in glass, and graduating in 2005 with a bachelor of fine arts (BFA). My focus at Tyler was furnace work, and also learned both hot and cold casting, as well as fused and slumped glass.
Since graduating, I have been a freelance glass artist, creating glass art and glass jewelry. I’ve worked on a variety of different projects including pieces of jewelry for loved ones, glass sculptures for events, and company gifts for employees. Learn more about what I offer.

Father’s Day …A Time to Remember at the Jersey Shore

Father’s Day …A Time to Remember at the Jersey Shore

Blogging from My Boat in Cape May – Father’s Day

Father’s day comes but once a year to celebrate your love and support of your Father and recognize your relationship and support.  Many families will celebrate at the Jersey Shore with cookouts, fishing trips with their Dads and enjoy a well prepared family breakfast with Dad.

Many family members have lost their father early on in life, never having the complete cycle of life with their father from childhood in  their own adult years. Although I lost my Dad suddenly at an earlier age, I am fortunate to have a relationship with my oldest brother, who supported me guided me throughout my life as both a brother and father.  I am also fortunate to have spent the time with my Dad during my earlier years under his love and guidance.

This year for Father Day while walking our pup, we were fortunate to meet our neighbor Jim with his newborn two year son, clad in a diaper only happily kicking and pulling with a tug of war of his feet with his Dad. This new cycle of fatherhood has started for Jim and he will be the lighthouse  for his son as he grows into the world.

When I think of a father, it reminds me of an image of a Lighthouse at the Shore. As a sailor you always can see the lighthouse from the distance providing navigation and warning in the same way your father does to keep you out of the potential perils of life.  Lighthouse’s are unmovable permanent fixtures, and stand strong against Northeaster’s, fog and Hurricanes yet remain stable and secure providing a beacon of hope for any lost souls at sea.

Much like Dad’s that are always there for you in the most difficult times in your life,  they provide guidance and security and you always know the spot to come to gain a trun bearing in life. During summer months the Lighthouse stays in the background at all times, a steady sentinel always ready for support, but always  in the background overlooking fair weather and the good times of life while on the lookout for inclement weather.

If you have ever lost course offshore on the ocean, or in life and your panicked to find direction of the horizon and home, you scan the sea looking for landmarks to gain your bearings. From a far distance over the rolling gray waves you can spot the tip of the light, and suddenly you panic calms to reassurance you are pointed towards land and headed on a true course home.

Fathers offer this same steadfast direction as a beacon in your life. They set examples and lessons as a child and these life long beacons stay with you to help navigate the course of a lifetime.

Get your sneakers on and get moving with the family. A hike is one of the perfect things to do with dad this year. Bonding with one another as well as the nature around you will definitely be a good Father’s Day activity. Let dad choose the trail you hike on and have some fun while you’re doing it. You’re in no rush so take your time and enjoy the nice weather.

Cape May Restaurant Week 2017

Cape May Restaurant Week June 4-11 2017

Our eight-day event that takes place every June. Enjoy lunch and dinner menus at a fixed price and discover new favorites.

This year, 2017, marks the tenth Cape May Restaurant Week! The event has run annually since its inception in 2007. The first year, there was both a spring and fall eight-day event, but since many of the area restaurants close mid-week during the off-season, we made the decision to host Cape May Restaurant Week once a year. It takes place the first week of June.

The event features three-course dinner menus that range from $25 to $35 per person and include an appetizer, entree, and dessert. Two-course lunch menus are available at select restaurants. Prices do not include tax, beverage, or gratuity.

We launched Cape May Restaurant Weekend in 2015. This four-day weekend event takes place in November and offers fixed-price dinner menus for $35.

Cape May Restaurant Week is run by the creative team at Cape Publishing and is sponsored by its sister brands CapeMay.com and Cape May Magazine.

STONE HARBOR — After months of renovation, Harbor Square Theatre opened its doors Friday, July 22 for the first time since Clinton Bunting and his partners acquired the property in January.

Harbor Square Theater

Harbor Square Theater

Ever dream of enjoying a full meal plus drinks at the movie theater? Introducing Harbor Burger Bar and its accompanying concession stand. Located within the same building as Harbor Square Theatre, it’s the best place to consume some food while simultaneously consuming a film.

What to expect

Enjoy a glass of wine with your movie at Harbor Burger Bar, or a filling meal. In addition to the full-scale restaurant that occupies the front of the building — complete with signage reminiscent of a vintage marquee — there’s a concession area at the theater with restaurant offerings right next to the candy and popcorn.

The new guy in town, Harbor Burger Bar is poised to become a mainstay, offering the complete “dinner and a movie” package. Customers can bring their food and drinks into the movie itself, but it’s worth hanging out at the bar or restaurant for a while, either before or after a show, or even if you’re not going to a show at all.

Food and drink

There’s an impressive tap list at Harbor Burger Bar — think Cape May IPA, Jack-O Traveler Pumpkin Ale, Goose Island IPA and seasonal Sam Adams — ranging from $5.50 to $7, with additional options available at the concession area for a 16- or 24-ounce draft (for $7 and $10).

The specialty cocktails, however, are worth indulging in, if only for their Hollywood-inspired names. From the Shirley Temple Black (Goslings Black Seal rum and Goslings ginger beer, topped with Maraschino liqueur for $10) and the Silver Screen Margarita (Patron Silver, Cointreau and fresh orange and lime juice with a touch of sour for $13), to the Saturday at the Movies Martini (Skyy cherry vodka, Triple Sec, fresh lemon and cranberry juice for $10), the cocktails offer a fun way to pay homage to classic Hollywood.

And while we love our movie theater popcorn, there’s no reason to limit yourself to the ordinary when you’re hitting the movies at Harbor Square Theatre. Check out the buffalo chicken eggrolls, fried pickles or mozzarella wedges for some small bites, or go for a burger. It’s not called a burger bar for nothing, offering at least eight options from the Bleu-Rugula to the Cali burger.
